Autumn 2022

Alleyn Park Bedding

Now that we’re moving into autumn, it’s a good time to reassess your containers and perhaps pep them up a little with some new colour such as pansies, violas, chrysanthemum and cyclamen. We also have some well-priced one litre or smaller pots which will nicely fit into troughs and planters. We have an offer on these smaller pots at the moment.

Alleyn Park Bulbs

All of our bulbs are now in – you can plant everything now except for tulips which you should keep back to at least November. Buy now and store in a cool dark room; many of the more popular varieties sell out quickly but they will keep very nicely in your home if well looked after.

Alleyn Park Shrubs

There are some beautiful trees arriving from our Yorkshire supplier; varieties of ornamental cherry (Prunus), Amelanchier, Hawthorn, apples, pears and edible cherries. Most of the trees are suitable for smaller gardens, wonderful for some vertical interest, also to give you much needed shade next summer.

Our stock of shrubs is also increasing at this time of the year; there’s a lot to choose from whether it’s evergreen you’re looking for like the ever-useful Choisya or shrubs for glorious autumnal colours such as Cotinus (Smoke Bush). We can advise you on which plant to choose for a particular area.

Alleyn Park Herbaceous

Our tables are still heaving with interest and colour – Sedum, Japanese anemone, Crocosmia and Heuchera are all exquisite late summer plants perfect for borders and containers. As usual we have a separate area concentrating on plants for shade.

Alleyn Park House Plants

The houseplant shed is filled with new plants and we also have a fantastic range of indoor pots to suit most budgets and in a wide range of styles. The bromeliads pictured above are sold along with a vibrant coloured pot and they will liven up any boring corner of a room!

Alleyn Park Cut Flowers

We are trialling a small range of cut flowers this autumn; they will be available from Friday through to Sunday, as long as stocks last. Please do give us feedback.

Lastly, don’t forget that September/October is a perfect time for patching up or sowing/turfing your grass. Come and see us if you need some advice – Robby is our grass expert!

Enjoy the last weeks of late summer sun and have a look at our website to see what jobs you can be doing in your garden now.
